In India, women tend to have elegant hairstyles, well-accentuated with jewels or accessories. They are often the main focus as Indian hair is claimed to be the longest and also the fullest among others.

Hairstyles for women are abundant in number. One of the most common, perhaps, is keeping a curly Indian hair. This is characterized by two partings right at the center of the head and the remaining strands will be left cascading over the shoulders, spiraling down the back in loose curls. The look it gives is very popular especially among girls in the late teenage years.

Another very popular style is having the bun. This is particularly very common among women in India. India is known to be a very hot country and keeping a tidy hairstyle will certainly help alleviate the annoying heat. Buns are possible for people with medium or long hair. They may even be decorated over with the sue of pin accessories, jewelries or flowers.

Braids are styles which have been picking up popularity along the years. Usually, braids are started with a parting at the middle part of the head, down to the back. Many fashionable girls even consider putting on various decorations on the woven strands. Attractive ribbons and colorful rubber bands are often used to lock in the strands.

Not just the women but the men are also known for a couple of prominent styles. However, most looks of men are mainly inspired by celebrities. The spiked hairstyle, for one, was influenced mainly by Aamir Khan. He is a celebrity highly praised by those influenced by the urban culture.

Other celebrity styles are influenced by Preity Zinta and Kajol. Preity is known for making famous the crimped style while Kajol made the short and blunt cut back in style. They are prominent public figures who have managed to make new waves in the Indian fashion industry.

There is also a growing popularity among women of today and this is the use of remy hairstyles. Remy hairstyles are outcomes of making new looks using hairpieces, wigs and extensions. These come in many different types though and many women tend to confuse one for another.

A remy hairstyle is best done with an Indian hair. Some styles come as manually weaved although others are weaved through machinery. There are strands that come as pre-tipped as well. Others come as clip-in extensions. For braiding, loose and bulk types will be best.
